Dette er side 2 af 64 i et, indtil nu, rimeligt velbevaret hem- meligt LEGO Jubile@ums-pro- jekt. Den såkaldte Jubile- ums-kavalkade 1982. Hvor tet pa 4.000 LEGO folk i mange lande hilser hinanden — og måske synger sammen (se bagsiden).

Projektet har i al tys-tys-hed kørt siden medio januar, hvor vi — i anledning af det danske 50-års LEGO jubilæum i au- gust — pr. brev opfordrede ikke mindre end 29 LEGO selskaber/områder til at tæn- ke & begå en dobbelt-sidet hilsen til »alle de andre«.

De 29 fik (næsten) frit slag, hvilket de følgende sider ty- deligt bærer præg af.

Sådan som det nu engang bør

være i den internationale LEGO familie. En eneste, lille betingelse

kneb det dog for adskillige at overholde. Det var den om ikke at bruge externe teg- nere/reklamebureauer ... Men sådan er det jo også - af og til — i den nævnte familie!

Det har veret skegt (og hårdt) at arbejde med denne kavalkade. Gid den må sprede glæde rundt omkring i ver- den.

Det er i hvert fald tanken... Tillykke med det hele, alle-

sammen.

Jubilee Cavalcade

This is page 2 of 64 pages of an — until now — almost secret LEGO Jubilee project — the so called 1982 Jubilee Cavalcade. Close on 4,000 LEGO people in many countries will salute each other and perhaps, they will also sing together (see the backpage).

We have worked on the pro- ject since mid-January and in connection with the 50-year Jubilee in August, we asked no fewer than 29 LEGO com- panies/areas to think & create a double page greeting to »all the others«.

The 29 were (almost) free to compose the double page as they please which the follow- ing pages indicate. That’s how it should be in the internatio- nal LEGO family.

However, one little condition was very difficult to observe and that was not to use exter- nal illustrators or advertising agencies...

But that is also how it is — now and then — in the family!

It has been fun (and hard work) producing this caval- cade and I hope that it may spread joy all over the world. At least, that has been our ulterior motive... Congratulations, everybody.

Jubilåums- kavalkade

Hier ist Seite 2 von insgesamt 64 Seiten eines bis jetzt (fast) geheimgehaltenen Jubilåums- Projektes. Die so genannte Jubilåumskavalkade 1982. Bei dieser Gelegenheit griis- sen etwa 4000 LEGO Kolle- gen einander — und vielleicht singen sie auch mit einander (siehe Riickseite).

Anlässlich des dänischen 50-jährigen LEGO Jubiläums haben wir seit Mitte Januar an dem Projekt gearbeitet. Wir forderten nicht weniger als 29 LEGO Gesellschaften/ Gebiete auf einen zweiseitigen Gruss an »alle die andern« zu senden.

Die 29 hatten (fast) freies Spiel, was aus den folgenden Seiten auch ganz deutlich hervorgeht.

So wie es in der internationa- len LEGO Familie auch sein sollte.

Für viele war es aber schwie- rig, eine kleine Bedingung einzuhalten und diese war keine externe Zeichner/Wer- bebüros zu verwenden... Aber so kann es ja manchmal auch in der obigen Familie sein.

Es war sehr lustig (und an- strengend) an dieser Kavalka- de zu arbeiten. Ich hoffe, dass sie Freude verbreiten wird. Das war auf jeden Fall meine Absicht.

This puts me in mind of the 46 Nations of the World in which LEGO bricks are sold, while just 5 bricks have 51,680,344 permutations. This reminds me of the number of happy children in the World who play with LEGO bricks — and also of the number of whole- some Spare Ribs eaten in LEGOREDO every year.

»Laying the bricks out side by side, I ob- serve there are 6 colours. Thus I am remin- ded of the Six Great European Markets for LEGO bricks; Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, France, UK and.... and.... another one which I forget at the moment, Sir.

Em Schulbeispiel men Clive Nicholls hat eine herrliche Parodie auf eine etwas fragwiir- dige amerikanische Schallplatte gemacht, die die Geschichte ei- nes Soldaten erzählt, der beim Kartenspielen in der Kirche erwischt wurde.

Clive’s Geschichte aber spielt sich im Büro eines Rektors ab, wo er (Clive) angeklagt wird, LEGO Bausteine zur Morgen- andacht in die Schule mitge- bracht zu haben.

Die Geschichte ist spassig und voll von »faulen Ausreden«. Nimm Dein Wörterbuch zur Hand und versuche selbst mit- zulesen. Aber nimm Dich in acht: Glaube nicht alles, was da an Zahlen, Ausreden und Fak- ten ausgetischt wird, sie würden einer genaueren Prüfung nicht standhalten können.

The LEGO AG people are happy to be among the contributors — although they did not join the LEGO Group until 1974. However, they have calculated that they and their moulding ma- chines in Baar have produced 12,000 million LEGO bricks (12,000,000,000 components!). If you put those LEGO bricks end to end, the distance will correspond to one trip round the world — plus a flight to the moon.

It is incidentally purely by ac- cident that Switzerland appears in the centre of the map — or so we're told!

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. On behalf of the crew, we welcome you aboard this INTERLEGO flight No. 1982 bound for all children of the world. We will be making intermittent landings and checking our progress at all times.

Our flight’s outlook this morning is generally clear and positive. However, as there is always the possibility of unexpected turbulence, we ask that you keep your seatbelts fastened during monthly reports. We also ask that you observe the non-smoking signs and please remain seated during business meetings.

Our fuel, of course, is the raw material from which LEGO bricks are produced in the three main motors (Billund, Baar and Enfield). We have today increased our fuel’s versatility, but it remains of the highest technical, play and educational quality. We are presently maintaining a cruising speed of approximately 60,000,000 boxes per year. Throughout the flight, we will be adjusting our elevation to optimize our fuel’s capacity.

We have »put together« (created) a streamlined organization utilizing the ground crews and control towers of more than 100 countries around the world. As we ascend to our flying altitude with a sound and moderate increase, our course will be modified to accommodate alterations in our distribution horizon. Our flight’s progress continues to be monitored during »in-flight« conferences. Our wavelengths are finely tuned to avoid atmospheric disturbances and thus navigating to the markets on schedule.

New product life preservers (marked »provisional«) are placed under your seats for easy access. Secretaries, assistants and telephones are within easy reach. Fresh Billund air will automatically release in case of unstabilized cabin pressure. For competitive product headaches, we suggest you contact our Legal Department for a remedy.

Children never change nor does the LEGO ideal which has dedicated the last 50 years to the creative development of children around the world and as we approach future commitments, we must keep this objective in mind.

Only one can be the leader . . . of one field. But, of course there may be several fields. The LEGO Group is the leader of toys on the world market. The MODULEX Group is the leader of manual, visual planning and sign systems.

The LEGO Group is also the leader in many special fields. Technics, research, de- sign, promotion, economy.

For the MODULEX Group, the list is more limited. Although there may be com- panies greater on certain local markets, none is more widely distributed on a world basis than MODULEX.

A/S MODULEX was founded in 1963 for the purpose of further developing a branch

Der var engang for snart leenge siden et lille skib, som sejlede OVERS@ og land. Det lille skib var

ladet med en sending LEGO klodser, som var bestemt til bernene i Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Nairobi, Aden, Jeru- salem og Cairo. Det var en lang rejse, og det var dengang, da LEGO klodserne ikke var sa berømte endnu. Men det lille skib klarede skerene.

Men der gik ikke ret lang tid, sa ville børnene i alle OVERS@ landene have mere og mere LEGO materiale, og sa var skibet pludselig blevet alt for lille. Derfor købte re- deren et større skib — en rigtig fragter, hvor der kunne vere mange flere LEGO klodser i lasten.

Besætningen var i mellemtiden også blevet meget større — nu var der både nogle på land, som skulle skrive alle papi- rerne ud, og så var der dem, der rejste OVERSØ og land. Dengang, det lille skib sejlede vandene tynde, var der kun to, der rejste OVERSØ, og to, der var i land. Men nu er der 11, der rejser OVERSØ og 14, der passer fortet.

Ja, sådan kan det gå, når et lille skib, ladet med de rigtige LEGO klodser, bliver styret af en god kaptajn, der har den allerbedste besætning...

Once upon a time, a long time ago, a small ship SY sailed OVERSEAS with a cargo of LEGO bricks BAHN for the children in Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Nairobi, Aden, Jerusalem and Cairo. It was a long journey and at that time, the LEGO bricks were not as famous as they are to-day, but the small ship pulled through. en Soon the children in the OVERSEAS countries wanted EZ more LEGO bricks and suddenly the ship was too small. = The shipowner bought a bigger ship - a real cargo vessel ln with a lot much more space for the many LEGO bricks. FS In the meantime, the crew had increased. Now there were Si also some crew members ashore who filled out the various ; documents and then there were those who travelled OVER- SEAS. When the small ship started to cross the sea, there were only two travelling OVERSEAS and two ashore. But now 11 are travelling OVERSEAS and 14 take care of the fort. Well, that’s the way things are when the small ship is loa- ded with real LEGO bricks and steered by a good captain together with the very best crew...

Es war einmal, vor langer Zeit, ein kleines Schiff, — das UBERSEE fuhr. Das kleine Schiff war mit LEGO Bausteinen geladen, die für die Kinder in Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Nairobi, Aden, Jerusalem und Cairo bestimmt waren. Es war eine lange Reise, und die LEGO Bausteine waren noch nicht so bekannt wie heute. Aber das kleine Schiff umschiffte die Klippe. | Aber bald wollten die Kinder in allen UBERSEE Ländern immer mehr LEGO Spielzeug haben, und das Schiff wurde schnell zu klein. Das Steckenpferd (hier in natiirli- cher Grösse) stammt aus der Zeit des 25-jährigen LEGO Jubiläums im August 1957.

Dette inspirerende budskab er ligeså sandt i dag som for 50 år siden. Måske på grund af 80’ernes komplexe og elektronisk-udviklede samfund.

Troen på vores børns kreativitet og visioner har været det, der har bundet disse 50 år sammen. LEGO produktet har gennemgået mange foran- dringer i de sidste 50 år og vil sikkert forandre sig endnu mere de næste 50 år. Men filosofien bag produktet vil aldrig forandre sig. Hver en- kelt medlem af den amerikanske LEGO familie er meget stolt over, her midtvejs, at kunne være med til at fejre LEGO gruppens første 100 år.

LEGO ® toys have changed considerably over the years and may change dramatically over the next 50 years, but the philosophy is unchanging. We, of the LEGO family in America, are individually proud to share in this midway celebration of the LEGO Group’s first 100 years.

Das LEGO Produkt hat sich im Laufe die- ser 50 Jahre stark verändert — und wird sich sicherlich in den kommenden 50 Jahren noch mehr verändern. For det første drejer det sig om at få samlet det rig- tige forspand. En blanding af ældre, erfarne, men ro- lige hunde med yngre, kraftige og temperaments- fulde, anses for den rigtige kombination.

Der er forskellige måder at koble hundene til slæ- den på, og hunde, der ikke kan enes med hinanden, må placeres således i spandet, at de ikke kan komme i slagsmål. Ku- skens pisk skal være lang nok til, at han kan nå at snerte hver enkelt hund. Og så gælder det i øvrigt om at sørge for, at de løber nogenlunde samme vej.

Tidligere teorier om, at det var en fordel at holde hundenes foderstand nær sultegrænsen, er i de se- nere år opgivet af de fleste slæde-ejere.

Driving a team of sledge dogs is an art that not everybody is cut out to learn.

The first thing to do is to gather the best team. It is said that a combination of old, experienced but calm dogs and young, strong and temperamental dogs is best.

There are different ways to link the dogs to the sledge and those that don’t get on must be positioned in the team so that they cannot start fighting. The driver’s whip must be able to touch every single dog. And it’s definitely an advantage if all the dogs run in more or

less the same direction.

In recent years most sledge-owners have dis- carded earlier theories that it was beneficial to keep their teams at star-

vation point.

Es ist eine Kunst ein Hun- degespann zu fiihren, die nicht allen zu lernen beschie- den ist.

Erstens muss das besste Ge- spann gesammelt werden. Man sagt, dass ein Gemisch von alten und erfahrenen, aber ruhigen Hunden und jungen kraftigen und tempe- ramentvollen Hunden die richtige Kombination ist.

Man kann die Hunde auf verschiedene Weise am Schlitten zusammenkoppeln, aber Hunde, die nicht zu- recht kommen können, miis- sen im Gespann so plaziert werden, dass sie sich nicht in die Haare geraten. Die Peit- sche des Kutschers muss je- den einzelnen Hunder rei- chen können. Übrigens muss man dafür sorgen, dass die Hunde leidlich in die selben Richtung laufen.

In den letzten Jahren haben die meisten Gespann-Besit- zer die früheren Theorien über den Vorteil, die Hunde schlecht im Futter zu halten, aufgegeben.

NB - Jede Ähnlichkeit mit den existierenden Schlitten — (Hundeköpfen) - ist ohne Zweifel die Absicht des Zeichners gewesen.
